Looking to be healthier but want taste. Sprouts are for you.
You may be nervous about starting your health journey. Crumbly gluten free bread, kale everyday. No longer. Christian was in the same boat 15 years ago when he first started growing veggies, scared of questionable fruits. Now with years of training under Master Gardeners, environmental scientists, and good ole trial-and-error, Devan and Christian are here to help you start your health journey. With our help, you can enjoy your meals with the confidence of nutrition and the joy of good taste.
MEET YOUR GROWERS
Christian A. Hernandez
Cofounder, Horticulture
Howdy, I’m Christian, the biologist here at Better Two Farms. I am a plant lover originally from the small town of Manvel, Texas. With only some potato spuds and a bag of okra seeds, I began my journey in gardening back in 2011. I learned how to grow vegetables and fruits in the thickest, most waterlogged soil in Houston, and turned a desolate patch of tomatoes and squash into a mosaic of flavor. After a few years, I was managing a pecan orchard, raising livestock, and assisting friends with their gardens. My formal agricultural training started with the Master Gardeners of Montgomery County. In high school, I won a semifinalist position in the 2018 Regeneron National Science Fair for my work on tracking nutrition in farming communities and received a 20k scholarship from Texas 4-H . Studying soil microbes at Princeton University, I received my degree in molecular biology in 2022. Today, I am currently furthering my knowledge as a graduate student in agroecology at UF.
Here at Better Two Farms, I managing the day-by-day, seeding, watering, and monitoring. If the crops start to look stressed or damp, I can analyze what nutrients and moisture levels will restore strength to the seedlings. I look forward to helping Leon, Jefferson, Gadsden, and Wakulla County residents achieve their dietary goals and enjoy their lives.
Devan Prewett
Cofounder, Logistics
Greetings! My name is Devan, the co-founder of Better Two Farms. I come from a line of original settling farmers of the Tennessee-Oklahoma area. A bit spontaneous and not afraid to fail, I am self-taught in all things cooking and baking, I love all things homemade and homegrown, and I am on the watch for the quality ingredients. With my bachelor’s degree in Economics and minor in Business, I make sure Better Two Farms can receive orders and deliver our veggies on time. Ask me about financial analysis if you get a chance: I don’t love utilities but stocks or the cologne market, I’m game.
Here at Better Two Farms, I help with seeding, harvesting, and spearheading the logistics of the operation. I hope to provide Leon and the surrounding counties with chef-worthy ingredients and sprouts that remove stress and feed the soul.
" The soil is the 'creative material' of most of the basic needs of life. Creation starts with a handful of dust.”

A bit about our growing process
Step 1 — Seeding
Each seed is spread in a bed of about 3/4 inches of soil, spread out to create a continuous plate. Seed trays are stacked on each other for the first three days to create humid conditions for sprouting.
Step 2 — Growing
Farming takes time, but sprouts complete their lifecycle after 6-14 days depending on the species. Cilantro takes about 14 days and peas need about 10 while red cabbage and broccoli are ready after 6-9.
Step 3 — Harvesting
When ready, the sprouts are cut using sterilized knives and scissors. The plants are sorted or mixed. Left unwashed to prevent mold, they are carefully weighed for their 2oz packages. Our hearty logo is placed on top and they are ready.
Level 4 — Serving
This is up to you! Put it on some avocado toast or swirl it into your morning smoothie. Take five of our sampler packs and make into a small salad. My personal favorite is using it as a garnish on salmon filets and chicken thighs
